Andrea Mastroni

Italian bass Andrea Mastroni began his musical education as a clarinettist before moving to vocal studies where he trained with Lella Cuberli, Rita Antoniazzi and Fernando Cordeiro Opa and graduated from the Istituto Claudio Monteverdi in Cremona. He has performed at all of the major opera houses around the world, including the Royal Opera House London, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zurich, Liceu Barcelona, Teatro Real Madrid, Opéra de Paris, Teatro la Fenice, Venice, Arena di Verona, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Deutsche Staatsoper, to name a few. Engagements this season and beyond include Colline in La Bohème at the Circo Massimo/Rome, il Grande Inquisitore in Don Carlo at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Oroveso in Norma at the Aix en Provence Festival, Gremin Eugene Onegin at the Liceu, Orfeo and Ritorno di Ulisse in patria at Wiener Staatsoper, and Licone Achilles in Sciro at Teatro Real Madrid. He will embark on a European tour of Caldara’s Oratorio Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo with Rene Jacobs. Andrea is also an active recitalist and will be singing Winterreise at the Norfolk Festival.
